Another concert tonight: Matt Andersen, at Centrepointe Theatre. It was wonderful.
Now, don't let me mislead you. I don't like blues. But I love Matt Andersen's music. He has range and presence and style and pulls me right into the music. My favourite of his songs was One Size Never Fits, which is not only a good song literally - and a comment on his size - but a good metaphor for life and diversity. A light-hearted song about a deep subject.
Also really enjoyed When My Angel Gets the Blues and Round and Round. When he sang a capella, I was thinking how much I loved it. When he was playing the guitar and not singing, I thought that was amazing. His performance had such impact.
His web page. It was his first show in Ottawa, and it was totally sold out.
The opening act was Will, who is as skinny as Matt Andersen is large. If I heard Will's music on the radio, I don't think I'd have paid attention; but with the magic of live theatre, I enjoyed it very much, though I was amused that every one of his songs was about death, one way or another. Even the song about living life to the fullest was about living life to the fullest because we are going to die.
Before the show,
