My pictures of St. Thomas, in the Virgin Islands. The Virgin Islands were named by Columbus, who called it St. Ursula and the Eleven Thousand Virgins. It got shortened.
My photos:
1. When I woke up this morning, this was the view out my stateroom window: the town of Charlotte Amalie, and the hills of St. Thomas rising above it. And sunshine.

2. A street in Charlotte Amalie.

3. We had lunch at a restaurant run by a woman named Gladys - recommended to us by her cousin Daniel in the street. Most of the restaurants here seem to be off tiny alleyways.

This is the interior of the restaurant, with posts of Billie Holliday and Louis Armstrong and Michael Jackson. One of the waitresses was singing along to the 1960s music that was playing.

I ate incredibly delicious tuna salad on fresh avocado. I've never seen an avocado like it.
4. In passing, in the taxi, we saw an interesting graveyard like those in New Orleans, with the graves above ground.

6. And here is our humble cruise ship:

7. We took a cablecar up to Paradise Point.

8. We fancied this house on the way:

The view from the top:

9. Flowers on the mountain near Paradise Point:

10. And when we got back to our ship, what did we see by its berth but a Scotiabank building, just like we'd see at home?

We shopped till we dropped. We loved it. Two wild women, let loose in the Caribbean!
