Boxing Day...

A day of freezing ice. Ice everywhere. All the trees have a shiny coating. It was well-nigh impossible to walk out of doors and I stayed at home as much as possible. Beulah didn't want to drive me to Sheila's place in the far west of Ottawa for her Boxing Day party, so we postponed it till tomorrow.
I went to Lisa and David's place for lunch. It turned out to be a fantastic meal: Lisa made a recipe called Dutch Pancake Puff from The Complete Canadian Living Cookbook, which had rather too many recipes with names like "Simply the Best Chocolate Chip Cookies" or "Everyone's Favourite Enchiladas" - I'd rather have recipes with names that don't try to sell themselves so hard. On the other hand, judging from this Pancake Puff, maybe the grandiosity is warranted. It was incredibly good. The only flaw was that it said the recipe fed six, but we all felt our portions were scant, and both the teen-age girls wanted seconds. So did I. Note to self: for anything more than three people, double the recipe. And yes, I got a copy of it.
Then we taked and opened presents and played a game called Cranium. Yes, it was fun, though I felt I was losing terribly. Had to do charades to get them to guess "Sigmund Freud". Lisa was supposed to do a charade to get us to guess Britney Spears, but she chickened out and did someone else instead. I'd have loved to have seen her trying to imitate Britney Spears.
Thank goodness David drove me home: I'd have hated to try to walk to a bus stop in this weather.
