Wednesday and a half...

What a day! Got up at 5:45 to go to a doctor's appointment with maaseru at 6:40 a.m. What kind of doctor makes appointments for 6:40 a.m.? The hospital wasn't even open yet; we had to turn on the lights in the waiting room. The man is charming and delightful - aren't doctor's supposed to be surly and dismissive? I suspect he's a talented Skrull impostor, much nicer than the human variety.

We were driven by Mike, which was really nice of him; but apparently he's been getting up at 4 a.m. all week to watch cricket on TV, so getting up for 6 is nothing to him. The medical appointment itself was so quick I didn't have time to finish reading my comic book while waiting - which was a good one, as it turned out to be a Magneto story. One of my favourite Marvel characters. A good story, in which old Mags shows his quirky sense of humour.

After going home and having a nap, maaseru we went to the drug store and the Silver Snail (for this week's comics), and then went shopping for provisions for my Afternoon Tea which will be happening in about an hour and a half, if I get myself into gear and prepare the food. Meanwhile I realized I hadn't received the tickets I was supposed to get from the National Arts Centre by mail, so I had to phone them to sort that out. (We can pick up replacement tickets at the door, with my credit card, passport, confirmation number and the soul of my firstborn child.) And I have to clean up the place a little, and get dressed; so rather than face all that stuff to be done in double-quick time, I'm talking about it on LJ.

I do love Christmastime.

Besides my weekly comics, I got something very exciting at the Snail: a new book of art by Charles Vess, one of my favourite living artists. I hope I can get him to autograph it some time.
