fajrdrako: ([Supernatural] - Dean)

I loved this one. Even though it failed to have some of the things I love, like Castiel, and the Apocalypse theme.
  1. It was such a Bobby episode. And, okay, I'm not a huge fan of Bobby, but I really loved him in this one. I could understand his depression, and the (unspoken) belief that he was letting the boys down, that he couldn't help and protect them any more. Not to mention the frustration of being unable to walk.
  2. Though there were some very funny bits, I thought Sam was fairly unkind to laugh at Dean's infirmities - especially since I could relate to those infirmities! On the other hand, Sam came though with the poker game. That was cool.
  3. I liked the theme of the value of time, to bet it in a poker game.
  4. I liked Hal Ozsan as Patrick, and I liked the way he and his girlfriend were both dangerous and sympathetic. I liked the trick where he switched the toothpicks.
  5. I loved it when Dean forced Bobby into a heart-to-heart, and Bobby's discomfort with it.
  6. I expected more of an explanation of Patrick and his powers - that he would turn out to be a demi-god we'd heard of, or an entity relating to someone or something else. I was actually glad, in the end, that he wasn't - just an opportunistic sorcerer who could play games with time.
  7. I liked the structure and pacing of this episode. Sometimes they don't get it right; this was spot on, developing to a climax.
  8. Very different music this time. [livejournal.com profile] explodedteabag said it reminded her of Twin Peaks.
  9. I'd love to have seen Castiel playing poker.
  10. Earlier this evening, [livejournal.com profile] maaseru, [livejournal.com profile] explodedteabag and I watched Supernatural 1x01, "Pilot". The ambience of "The Curious Case of Dean Winchester" reminded me of that. The pacing of the dialogue, the relationship between the brothers, Dean's cockiness and Sam's sense of humour. I like them that way. Even the hint that Dean is like Han Solo, with the scene where he pulled his gun on Patrick under the table.
  11. Why exactly did Patrick give Sam the clap? Just to be annoying?
  12. Sadly, my cable went off - that seldom happens, but it's happened twice in the past couple of weeks. I didn't want to spend the evening trying to call the cable company, especially since their phone recording said that "work was being done" and "service may be interrupted". Why mine, and not [livejournal.com profile] maaseru's? No idea. If my television is still snowstorming tomorrow, I'll call the company. Meanwhile, thank goodness we could watch at [livejournal.com profile] maaseru's place.
