Why is it that good and useful things are bad for us?

I'm thinking of his article, saying that "Long-time mobile use is linked to brain tumours".

On the face of it, I don't believe it, despite the claim "the survey of 12,800 people in 13 countries has been overseen by the World Health Organisation". Though of course I don't know how much use they are saying will tip the balance; or what the causation is.

I'm waiting for someone to prove that reading is bad for us.

of course reading is bad - it kills the eyes! ;-p

as far as cell phones, I thought that had been disproven. ah well, who knows, really.

I find it hard to believe that mobiles cause cancer, just as I find it hard to believe that living near a wind farm will make you sick. Now, I don't know all the secrets of the universe and some things are just counter-intuitive, but this sounds to me like the kind of scare tactics that surround new inventions - especially popular ones.
