Tonight's episode of Castle, "The Double Down", was fun: partly for the plot and its puzzle aspect, partly because of the bet between Castle and the cops about which would win the case first. Sheila and I were discussing the show on the phone, agreeing that it reminds us of the kind of romantic comedy mysteries that haven't been around for a while - shows like Remington Steele and Moonlighting.

Which reminds me that in Books on Beechwood yesterday I saw Richard Castle's book Heat Wave for sale. How many books get written by a fictional character? It had Nathan Fillion's photo on the back - and note the bland, straight-faced bio of Castle offered on Amazon:
Richard Castle is the author of numerous bestsellers, including the critically acclaimed Derrick Storm series. His first novel, In a Hail of Bullets, published while he was still in college, received the Nom DePlume Society's prestigious Tom Straw Award for Mystery Literature. Castle currently lives in Manhattan with his daughter and mother, both of whom infuse his life with humor and inspiration.
And so they do.

I'm loving this.
