Supernatural: Good God, Y'All...

This evening I saw the Supernatural episode 5x02, "Good God, Y'All". I seem to have increasing difficulty in understanding the episode titles - but they do remain snappy.

This one was quite wonderful. Oh, Castiel, Castiel. He gets better all the time. Loved his interaction with Bobby.

1. So Castiel carved all sorts of sigils into Dean's bones, not just a few simple marks. bloggingchick has a partial Enochian translation on her blog. I love it. (Accurate or not, it's so very cool.) And thanks to maaseru for telling me about that.
   
   
2. And the dialogue! Castiel showing a lot of oomph. The whole scene where Castiel asks for the amulet - and, amazingly, Dean gives it to him. (I found myself thinking of the scene where Legolas gives Aragorn the Evenstar in Lord of the Rings.)
   
   
3. Then at the end, Dean offers to give Sam the Impala. I almost wept.
   
   
4. I liked War. A lot. Especially his red Mustang. I wonder what the other three Horsemen will be like. I assume we'll be finding out.
   
   
5. Loved it that each character thought the other was a demon - simple hallucinations. Woo.
   
   
6. Great to see Rufus, Ellen and Jo again.
   
   
7. Loved Rufus muttering, "I'm getting too old for this."
   
   
8. Bobby is a grouch. I wondered if in his several days of saying nothing he was silently calling for Castiel to come and heal him.
   
   
9. How much do we know about the amulet? Bobby gave it to Dean in the first place, didn't he? Do we know anything about its origins? Why is it a compass to God?
   
   
10. If anything, this terrestrial Castiel is even more fun than Castiel as a full angel.
    
    
11. What is Nick-Lucifer doing?
    
    
12. I loved the way Dean figured out the comet and the Apocalypse and the Four Horsemen, while simultaneously War told Sam about it.
    
    
13. How many days till next episode? How long till my next dose of Winchesters and Castiel?

"Good God, y'all" is a powerful exclamation during the anti-war song War by Edwin Starr. The "huh" in the lyrics is also expelled forcefully, like a grunt. Great song!

Wonderful - that is so suitable to the episode.

And I was complaining just the other day about how people don't write anti-war songs any more.

And, well, I don't know how many artists are currently writing anti-war songs. This one's from 1970, which is why I know it so well. It was a big hit then, of course, but has held up well.. You can see it also on YouTube:

I wish people would write more anti-war songs now - and listen to them too.

On the other hand - clearly people are watching Supernatural, which is a good start.
