Today. Call it colonoscopy day. Two good things about it: (1) it's over, and (2) I have a clean bill of health. The downside: well, colonoscopy day. It just isn't fun. I came home afterwards to lie down on the sofa and read. Fell asleep immediately and slept all afternoon and half the evening. ("They drugged you," said

I woke up enough in the evening to watch two episodes of Supernatural season 4: "Death Takes a Holiday" and "After School Special". Also watched the deleted angel scene from "On the Head of a Pin". I might have watched it a few dozen times except I don't think

Date: 2009-09-04 03:37 am (UTC)I watch When the Levees Break and Lucifer Rising tonight - they were showing them in repeats. I've only watched the scene from 4.16 4 - 5 times so far.

Date: 2009-09-04 03:46 am (UTC)Yes, set in Florida. For reasons I don't quite understand - ! But it's a rather good book to read while you're dozing and waking and reading it in half-conscious chunks.
We watched "Levee" and "Lucifer Rising" last night and will be likely to watch it again on Sunday, when we're having a friend visit whom we want to get hooked on the show.

Date: 2009-09-05 06:07 pm (UTC)I hope you've recovered by now.
But there are much better fanfics IMO:
This one, frex, which is an AU gen Dean and Sam.
And a bunch of others that I recced on the SunnydaleU list.

Date: 2009-09-06 03:14 am (UTC)Yes, I've noticed that some of the fanfic is way better than the published novel. It wasn't terrible, but it was bland, and most fan writers have Dean's voice far better. Mind you, I've been mostly reading Dean/Castiel fic.
Thanks for the link and the recommendation. Always looking for good stories. Always. And I'll look on the SunnydaleU list for the others.

Date: 2009-09-06 03:52 am (UTC)IMO, for whatever reason, maybe just because that pairing has been going on longer, the Dean/Sam ones are usually better. But the one I gave you is just Dean and Sam. No slashing.
I guess sometimes I find the Dean/Cas ones disappointing - because, given the givens of fanfic, making it all about teh sex seems mundane in this human/angel case. Though there are a few that manage to avoid that.
Also somewhat premature in terms of the Dean/Cas relationship we've seen to date on screen. I mean, they obviously have a unique, intense relationship that has changed both of them to some extent, though arguably Cas more than Dean. It will be interesting to see where it goes this year, where, one assumes, they will have to become more reliant on each other, given Cas' status as renegade Angel.

Date: 2009-09-11 10:05 pm (UTC)Seems likely; because, as you say, they've been around longer, and the storylines are so rich. But I can't work up any interest in the pairing, so I've been generally avoiding it. I've no problem with slashing them, just no real interest -and I may start reading hte slash just because I want to read SPN fic. I have lots of interest in Dean/Castiel... Though, in the case particularly, I certainly prefer the ones that are not just about sex.
Yes, I think their relationship has changed Cas a lot, especially now - he's gone from being an Angel in heaven, unquestioningly doing God's will, to being an outcast on earth with Dean to take care of and a one-angel war to fight. Beset on all sides. He seems to be thriving on it, though.
I think that Castiel changed Dean's view of the universe, though not his attitude. (Which is good.)
It will be interesting to see where it goes this year, where, one assumes, they will have to become more reliant on each other, given Cas' status as renegade Angel.
I'm looking forward to this.
