Today we had the kind of cool, rainy evening when going to a movie is just the thing. I saw Pirates of the Caribbean again, this time with Beulah. She liked it even more than the first time she saw it. I always love it because I always love Jack Sparrow. This time I noticed that the pirate who says he'll teach Elizabeth about pain is the same one Will had stuck an axe into back in Port Royal - and then encountered him again.

I'm slow, sometimes.

We ate at Harvey's. I had their caesar salad and a veggie burger: delish. I love Harvey's and always mourn that the Harvey's at Rideau and Nelson closed up, so there's no Harvey's convenient for me to go at lunchtime when I'm at work. Probably just as well.

At lunchtime I ate with Lisa at the vegetarian place on Laurier at King Edward. She gave me two wonderful books for my birthday: the latest Robin Sharma book, The Saint, The Surfer, and the CEO, and Full Speed by Janet Evanovich and Charlotte Hughes. Not a mystery, it seems - I hadn't heard of it. Lisa says she has fallen off the library's waiting list for Evanovich's To the Nines; I didn't know that could happen. I'm still on the list, but I'm #183 or so in the long list of people waiting for it.

When I got home, I watched the Firefly episode "Shindig" that aired on Space tonight. I love that show. And that episode: Kaylee is so sweet - I love it when she says she's not speaking to Mal - and Inara is so beautiful. And the dialogue is so funny and clever. Damn. I miss that show. (So when will they get to the unaired episodes? Not soon enough for me!)

Even more exciting, I saw the new trailer for The Return of the King online here. Couldn't get it to download properly. (Do I need an update to my .zip file opener?) Gad, it's so beautiful. There's so much there. A glimpse of Shelob, and Eowyn in her Dernhelm armour, and Aragorn striding into the Paths of the Dead - they aren't holding anything back. Wow. What will the movie be like, when even just the trailer is so moving?

Not that I'm a hard sell on that one....

I read a play: Visiting Mr. Green by Jeff Baron. I already knew what it was about, but it read better than I expected: very smooth, quite touching, unsentimental even though I was getting mushy over it by the end. Good story.

I also started reading The Fall of the Kings by Ellen Kushner, whose previous novel </>Swordspoint I loved. They're both fantasy; I've just read the prologue in this one but it's a humdinger. I look forward to this.

No yoga, no fitness club; I must do better tomorrow.

I loved Swordspoint too! And I'm really enjoying A Game of Thrones! Thanks again for lending it to me. I'm getting really caught up in the story, but so far, no more dreams about castles and crows. :)

Pirates of the Caribbean again, eh? How many times is that now? 8? 9? :D :D

You're welcome. My friend Beulah is waiting to borrow "The Game of Thrones" after you're through - don't rush, but she heard me discussing it with Lyn and became intrigued. Then we had to be careful not to discuss spoilers!

There are some things in that series that would be horrible to dream about. (Shudder.) Do you like Tyrion as much as I do? Though maybe you haven't got to know him very well yet. My other favourite is Jon Snow. And I like Dani more and more as the story goes on.

I think it was the 8th time I've seen "Pirates" but I'm not entirely sure.
