July 23, 2009:Which do you prefer? (Quick answers–we’ll do more detail at some later date)
- Reading something frivolous? Or something serious? Frivolous, if it's good.
- Paperbacks? Or hardcovers? Hardcovers, though I usually read paperbacks because they are more portable.
- Fiction? Or Nonfiction? Fiction, for the emotional kick.
- Poetry? Or Prose? Prose. But I like poetry, too.
- Biographies? Or Autobiographies? Biographies. If only because I read them more. Most of the people who really interest me didn't write autobiographies. I wish. Aimery de Lusignan, where is your long, detailed, chatty tell-all memoir?
- History? Or Historical Fiction? Aw, come on, I can't choose. History, if I have to pick one.
- Series? Or Stand-alones? Series.
- Classics? Or best-sellers? Classics.
- Lurid, fruity prose? Or straight-forward, basic prose? Impossible to choose. How about an eclectic blend?
- Plots? Or Stream-of-Consciousness? Plots.
- Long books? Or Short? Long.
- Illustrated? Or Non-illustrated? Non-illustrated, if it's a novel. Illustrated if it's history, or a comic.
- Borrowed? Or Owned? Owned. I have a number of borrowed books on the premises and it makes me uneasy, as if the owners are looking over my shoulder.
- New? Or Used? New.
