This evening my friends Donna and Tasia came over to watch the first three episodes of Torchwood Children of Earth. They were completely unspoiled and I didn't tell them anything about what was coming up.
They were enthralled, and loved it as I did. Of course, they don't know what's coming up in the last two episodes. I wonder what their reaction then will be.
- First time through, I couldn't tell who the other three bodies in the military holding facility were. They were, of course, the three other people who had been present when the children were taken in 1965 - Sterns, Hunt and whosit.
- I love all the things I loved the first time through: Alice, Rhiannon, Clem.
- Gwen is incredibly sexy.
- I thought the first time and though again now, that Jack deliberately let Rhys know he knew about Gwen's pregnancy first.
- I see on the BBC website that they have wallpaper downloads that show the 456 more clearly than we ever get to see them in the show. I wonder why. They're scarier when we only see them in bits and pieces.
- The first three episodes were very scary, even though I'd already seen them. Very scary indeed. But the humour came through more, too.
- I loved this review and I agree that Peter Capaldi deserves awards. And John Barrowman's acting was superb. But then again... so was everyone's. Just when I try to single one actor out, the others come to mind. Lucy Cohu. Susan Brown. Eve Myles. Everyone.
- I still don't get the Edward joke.
- I looked up Lucy Cohu and was surprised to see that she played Mileva Einstein in Einstein and Eddington. Otherwise I don't think I've seen her before. I am still thrilled with Alice Carter, and the way her part is written, especially in her confrontations with Jack and with Agent Johnson.
