It occurs to me on reflection that I am far, far more upset that Jack lost Alice because of what happened, than I am upset because he lost Ianto.

that whole incident, was just horrific

Though I loved "Children of Earth", my comment to my friends was that it was the most cynical thing I'd ever seen on television. Or off it.
And all the more chilling because of that.

definitely cynical. And really, I loved the whole political part of it!
Did I mention it reminded me of the 'green silk rooms' of Bujold?

Can't remember who inspired me to the think of the 'green silk rooms' of Bujold, but it was when I was reading someone's post. And it fit so well! :-D

Bujold was talking about exactly the same things - people smug with power making decisions over the life of others, and caring very little about them.
