Tom Price at Torchsong...
Jun. 11th, 2009 05:07 pmTom Price is a lovely man. Despite obvious pain, he entertained us with stories about has career and Torchwood. He said he didn't even realize that PC Andy was a popular character until "Adrift", and he improvised the line about Abergavenny himself, and they left it in. Good, because I liked it. "I'm like the Torchwood Stephen Fry," he said.
He wasn't happy about his broken arm. Who would be? "It keeps hurting for ages," he said, referring to his emergency hospital visit. "I thought they'd give me drugs and I'd be okay, but they left me in a corridor, weeping. It fucking hurts." He described putting on his underwear with one arm. Given the circumstances of Torchsong, He added, "You have to look at the last man standing. Gwen is a witch."
He said he got into comedy because when he acted seriously, people laughed at him. So he now acts funny, and people still laugh at him.
He talked about a scene in Torchwood that had PC Andy and Rhys running. "I grabbed his right buttock. I dont' think it made the final edit. Maybe it'll be in the blooper reel."
He was wearing red Reeboks. John Barrowman said they were the gayest shoes he'd ever seen.
He played us his phone recording of his mother's reaction to the news about the broken arm.
Someone asked, "If you could go anywhere, any time, in the TARDIS, what would you choose?"
Tom said, "Yesterday, about two o'clock."
Bottom line: He was delightful.
