Oh happy, happy day. What a happy fan I am. All the things I wanted to happen, happened. But not in a straightforward or predictable way.
- Dean did not kill Sam, but forgave him and tried to help him.
- Sam was sorry and cleaved to Dean in the end.
- Castiel the angst-torn Angel decided to help Dean in defiance of heaven and all the other angels.
- Lucifer rose, raising the stakes. This is particularly satisfying because the Winchester brothers are both to blame: Dean for breaking the first seal, Sam for breaking the last.
I think I loved everything that happened, and lots of little details that aren't big things like the above, but pieces of story:
- Angels trapping Dean in a pretty room with a harp and a picture of St. Michael.
- All sorts of good lines, but the best must be, "God has left the building."
- Dean breaking the white angel figure.
- Bobby chewing out Dean for self-pity.
- Sam wanting Dead when the going got tough.
- Sam's eyes going black.
- Dean pounding at the church doors. (Too late, too late, too late...)
- Dean's impassioned speech to Castiel about humanity.
- Castiel writing in blood on the wall...
And best of all: Castiel, Castiel, Castiel.
