- 1x17 - "Hell House" - A silly plot, but I liked the ongoing pranks the brothers played.
- 1x18 - "Something Wicked" - Brilliant, especially the flashbacks to young Dean and Sammy. And we saw John - always a high point for me. Loved the spooky fingers of the striga.
- 1x19 - "Provenance" - Interesting plot; I liked the way it kept twisting. There's so much emphasis on Sam in season 1, and Dean is shown as less attractive than he later became - and I don't mean his looks, but his manner, his dialogue, his attitude.
I like to imagine Castiel watching the Winchester boys through these early episodes....
Saw still more trailers for Thursday's show, which

Date: 2009-05-11 04:40 pm (UTC)So far the women I've liked on the show are Ruby and Ana. I like both of them. Ellen, too.

Date: 2009-05-11 04:44 pm (UTC)I agree 100% on Ellen, though. *wants Ellen and Jo back on the show. Badly*

Date: 2009-05-11 07:52 pm (UTC)Uh... I thought that was canon. Isn't it? Or am I just confused again? 'Course, I've hardly seen Meg. I don't have a lot of information here. Just taking it as it comes.
I have no problems with Ana, whom I generally like, though I don't trust her, either.

Date: 2009-05-11 08:00 pm (UTC)*sighs* I don't... heh. I actually trust Anna to act reasonably way more than I like her. Of course, she has her own agenda, too, so 'reasonably' doesn't exactly equal 'in the best interest of Sam, Dean, and/or Castiel', but it's more than many characters on this show can be relied on to do. >.> But I don't like her much at all. Either visually or ... as acting skill. I think that last bit may be the core of my dislike, though. She could've been a much better character.

(Example: whoever played Stryker in the latest X-Men movie, when Brian Cox gave such a strong performance with the same villain.) Ana and Ruby are both good to my eyes, in their different ways - the ambiguous demon, the ambiguous angel. My guess is that they will each die soon, while the Winchesters and Castiel live on.
I love the symmetry, that Sam's lover is a demon and Dean's is an angel.

Date: 2009-05-11 08:49 pm (UTC)the dynamic of Sam and Dean snapped from the pilot.
I saw the pilot after I'd seen most of season 4, so it was already in place for me. Certainly the Sam-Dean relationship was never in question for me.
I'm still hoping Ruby might not be killed ('cause, as I said, I like her) but I think it's about a 99% chance she will be. Ana? I think she'dd die, but maybe not so soon.

Date: 2009-05-11 09:07 pm (UTC)Yeaaaah, seeing the pilot after all of that, I can see the... difference. I am very, very much impressed, having seen things mostly in order (I was mostly through s1 when I saw 4x01), how well they built up to where the boys are at the moment. Quite honestly, I don't see them making ANY of their S4 choices other than what they did, in those circumstances, either of the boys. And that's saying something about the consistency of the characters and the writing. Then again. Kripke has a pretty good idea about what he's doing, and it shows. I would bet that watching s4 and the going back is an entirely different experience. I know that in every single episode this season there are references back, ranging from phrasing to entire set-ups, and I LOVE them. Missing them would probably miss and entire layer to the episodes, which... heh. After you finish the first 3 seasons, rewatch s4 for those?
Mmph. Dean wants to KILL HER RIGHT NOW so my thinking is clouded, but then, I've hated her a lot since seeing Jus in Bello. That's separate from Dean's reactions to her, which range. (I also do think it's Anna, not Ana, as per all the character listings.)

Date: 2009-05-11 09:17 pm (UTC)Yes, Supernatural has very good writing and very good concepts; and some very good actors. It's a show with good concepts, that hasn't confused its own premise. It just gets stronger.
I'm totally confused as to whether to call her Ana or Anna, and I switch back and forth. I think I might stick with Anna, because I like it better, and it's pronounced that way.

Date: 2009-05-11 09:34 pm (UTC)Yes yes yes. I watch all of three shows, really - DW/TW, Supernatural, and The Mentalist. All three are very, VERY well written. Maybe that's another reason why I get irked at DA - It could be so much better. Ahem. And yes. Although I do think that it would be good if next season is the last. Mostly because the arc needs closure.
Well, "Anna" is based on this (if you click on the image, you can see it magnified) which is from the episode?

Date: 2009-05-11 09:42 pm (UTC)As for "Anna": I'd say that clinches it.

Date: 2009-05-11 09:49 pm (UTC)*nods* Yeah, I'm so used to her being Anna from RP and fics that I was blinking at your first comment with Ana. >.> I know, I can be weird sometimes.
