Writer's Block: End of the World as We Know It

The world will end when our sun eventually explodes and encompasses the planet.

As for when human life on this planet will end, that's a different question. When I was young I never thought we'd last to the year 2000. I thought overpopulation would collapse civilization and we'd be scattered warring tribes by now.

We seem to have escaped that, or at least postponed it.

Over and over in history we've muddled through. Every century has had its crisis by which people thought the end of the world was coming - always for a good reason, or at least, a reason that looked good to them. It hasn't happened yet.

I think we really can't predict the future. It's always not what you expect. Challenges are good for us.

We only live, only suspire
Consumed by either fire or fire.

Everything changes.

Woo, doesn't he look good! I am impressed. My budgies loved that trailer, and started cheeping loudly in applause.

As for Heroes, since other shows are ending for the season, I hope to find more time to go back and catch up. I saw a few minutes of the season-ender, but not enough to comment on.

I too agree that challenges are good for us, but many people seem to shy away from that kind of thing.

That's the whole point of challenges - they're scary. Learning to face our fears is one of the best things we can ever learn, singly or collectively.

It's this point's applicability to subjects such as "global warming caused by humans" that may prove to be unpopular.

Seems to me that the cause of global warming is a moot point. It doesn't really matter what caused it. The question is: can we do something about it and its effects, and if so, what?
