[livejournal.com profile] auriaephiala sent me this amusing item about a beaver on the streets of Ottawa.

It would be amusing anyway, but it's all the more fun that it was two MPs who found him. Amazing that it got that far onto Bay Street - we're not talking suburbs or riverside parkland, that's utterly urban.

About two years ago there was a young brown bear on Carling Avenue. Sometimes the wildlife just... explores.

I wonder what the beaver is telling his lodgemates about the adventure. ("Don't go up there - they have politicians.")

HA! I love that:D I've only had things to do with beavers. A beaver looking for a new home went in with our cows who chased it. Then another one was in the middle of the road from my house to my barn. All this happen in BC. I just get such a giggle out of this guy slowly chasing it towards water lol

LOL about te beaver telling his lodgemates "Don't go up there - they have politicians." lol

I think beavers like to wander and explore. I've seen a lot of beaver ponds, and beavers at work in them - always fun to watch. This is the first I've heard of them interacting with MPs.

Now you've got me imagining the not-so-little fellow in 23rd Century Starfleet blue! :-D

If Masao Okazaki will forgive me the borrowing from his Starfleet Museum site (http://www.starfleet-museum.org/lancaster.htm)...perhaps this one will do.

He's been doing some really good design work for Pocket Books the last little while, particularly on the ST: Vanguard novels. The namesake station itself, the Archer-class USS Sagittarius...and I'm hoping to see Cervantes Quinn's little commercial pocket starship Rocinante as well getting his attentions.

Beavers are ... eager

Or really nosy, or something. Here, one was determined to aim to live in the botanical gardens and build a dam there, for two springs in a row. It was firmly evicted and sent back to the river, but, well, the newspapers had something to write about and people had fun talking about it. Crazy animal, as the botanical gardens, while on the river bank, are situated in the middle of a 100,000 people town and across a fairly busy street from the water.

Beavers seem to like a challenge! Or maybe they just like to be in the middle of things.

It sounds just a little like something out of Monty Python ("A beaver, you say?") or "Yes, Minister".

When I lived at Lyon/Laurier, I once found a porcupine gamboling in the flower bed. I'm glad Stix hasn't run into one of *those*.

I suppose you could use its quills for more writing ... :-)

However, methinks that scene would be full of "ouch"-es.

And I know I don't need to mention skunks to you.
