Life can only be nobly inspired and rightly lived if you take it bravely and gallantly, as a splendid adventure. - Annie Besant, 1847 - 1933
I have to keep reminding myself of this.

Nice idea, so long as one does not mind the following comment: "Adventure" is usually the term used when someone is in trouble a long way away (from you).

Yes, I'm paraphrasing, but I don't have the original quote at hand and am too lazy to Google same. :-)

I might add that the reference to "courage" is also well-taken.

Next to honesty, I think courage might be the most important trait a person can have. Moral courage being the most important thing of all.

I think the definition of 'adventure' you quote is the definition of someone who doesn't like or want adventure. Since I do like and want adventure, I don't agree! I can think of nothing worse than being bored.

I am in the process of re-doing the stickers on my car bumper (for instance, I can remove IB since "impeach Bush" is no longer a necessary exhortation, alas that we didn't do it while we had the chance) and the W with the red line drawn through it. I am in the process of choosing what will go on it now. One which I like but which I think would cause me grief from those who have not obligation not to misunderstand (say, cops who would also not take kindly to

I have never ever been that kind of dyslexic!) ... anyway, the saying I like and wish I had the guts to get on a t-shirt: I DO NOT INTEND TO PASS MILDLY THROUGH LIFE ONLY TO ARRIVE SAFELY AT DEATH. Yeah. Kinda says something to a person.

I think I'd go for "question everything" rather than "question authority". And I'm in favour of going mildly through life, too - just want to do it on my own terms. Which are really the epitome of mild. And the world wants me to be less mild, and do it on their terms, which is the problem.

Ah. There is almost always more than one right way to do something. I'm glad that I understand that. It's a keystone of my personal cognitive ability, in fact. And I am very glad of that!

You will like one of my alternate choices, then: Question Reality. (Whose version, huh? That's the question, yes.)

Hee! Good comment. I'd say "question everything, find reality", using "reality" as a synonym for "the truth", which is always elusive.
