I hope they would understand it without explanation. I try to make my LJ entries coherent and self-contained, so that anyone looking at any one of them at any time will understand what I'm saying.

Actually, you do. They are. It's like having a conversation with a person with a lively mind: at any point of entry into the conversation, it is still coherent and interesting.

By the way, you caught it: that frame in which Captain Jack is reading the old pulp SF novel. I tried to get my screen clear enough to read the title, but failed... does it say, The Invasion of Space? I thought it was so delightful that he was off to the side of a scene, reading an old pulp novel. hee.

Hee. I would like to think it is a person with a lively mind. Of course there are moments when my mind is as lively as molasses on a cold day, but I like to think that's not the norm.

I had to go back to the original HD screencap to read the title of Jack's book, because my header wasn't quite clear enough, at least, not for my eyes.

The books is Scavengers in Space by Alan E. Nourse.

The cylinder on the cover reminds me of certain cylindrical objects in "The Doctor Dances".

I love it that Jack was reading it. I love the image of Jack with a book anyway; that's why I took it as a header when I found the screencap, which is by [livejournal.com profile] marishna. Love that moment.

I found Alan Nourse because of his proximity to Andre Norton on library shelves. He was a doctor & wrote lots of very good sf.

What a great way to discover an author! I'm sure I've done that, too.
