From Hell..
Sep. 1st, 2003 01:03 pmI'm watching Brimstone as I work on the bookshelves. I love it. And oooh that John Glover.
Appropriately, before I started watching Brimstone while working, I watched From Hell: the movie where Johnny Depp is on the trail of Jack the Ripper.
I cannot believe how beautiful Johnny Depp is in this.
Now, I prefer him as the wild and funny Jack Sparrow, but here is is intense, tormented and sad. What a serious movie. I liked it; I liked it a lot; I liked all the actors (Ian Holm, Robbie Coltrane, Heather Graham). I liked the theme. I loved the plot: it has several good twists. Most versions of Jack the Ripper movies bore me, but I watch them if they have good stars, like Samuel West.

Date: 2003-08-31 11:37 am (UTC)Did you want a copy of From Hell? I can make you one. If you haven't seen Chocolat (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0241303/) with Johnny Depp, please do so. It's a wonderful movie, and of course I can copy that for you as well. I have Dead Man (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112817/), Don Juan DeMarco (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112883/) (although maybe with commercials :-( ), Ed Wood (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109707/), Benny & Joon (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106387/), and Edward Scissorshands (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099487/), too.

Ed Wood isn't at the library, I'll just have to rent or find it.
This is fun - a quest for Johnny Depp!
