Ghost Fear

The ghost machine made Ianto break out into a cold sweat. Don't use it in the Hub, he thought. Don't see my fear, Lisa's pain, the horror of the cybermechanism in the basement.

It was a relief to see the diabolical thing locked away, safe.

Ianto realized Jack was looking at him again. Control, control was the key. He smiled, using his eyebrow in the way he knew made Jack hard, made his breath quicken.

Jack smiled back at him.

He could handle Jack. Sex was distraction. Jack was easy.

Everything was going to be all right.

Thank you! I like doing things from Ianto's point of view, that weren't from his point of view in the show.

Ouch. Ow ow ow ow ow. That's really painful. :-(

I'm glad you gave him a role to play in Ghost Machine. Even if it's heartbreaking.

And I love your icon! He looks so spiritually coiled: like the tension of his lies is the only thing holding him together.

Now that we have a sense of what Ianto was going through - something not made clear at all until "Fragments" - I'm enjoying going back and picturing what it must have been like for him. Painful and intense.

I love that icon too. It's by [livejournal.com profile] acesia. It hints at the Ianto behind the façade.

Ooooh. I had never thought about that possibility before, but it absolutely would be a terrifying idea for Ianto. And the way he knows he can handle Jack - this is great.

Yes. A machine that reveals secret crimes, especially emotionally-laden ones. Just the thing Ianto didn't need just then.

the way he knows he can handle Jack -

Or thinks he can. Or tries to.

Ianto at this stage is heartbreaking.

I will have to watch this again tonight.

GOD. Season 1 Ianto is just so much more tragic than we knew at the time. GDL must have been thrilled to read Fragments and see that he had played it just right, all unknowing. (Or instinctively knowing: he's pretty sharp about Ianto.)

Yes. We didn't know about the girlfriend in the basement till "Cyberwoman". We didn't know he loved Jack until... well, I'm not sure when; take your pick; we learned they were having sex in "They Keep Killing Susie" but we don't really learn the terms of it. We didn't know quite the extent of things till "Adam" and "Fragments", really.

Yes, he played it right.

Poor Ianto.
