First of all, I don't much want a spirit animal. I never did like the idea, and Philip Pullman put me off even more.

But if I were to choose, I'd choose a dog.

I'd rather have a real, physical dog than the spirit version, though.

Less smell, though. :)

Less housetraining drama!

For me, it's Hello Kitty all the way.

several on-line quizzes (which I don't particularly credit with much insight) told m my spirit guide is the stag. I really love the stag God from the princess Mononoke movie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Princess_mononoke) so I guess I am happy to go with that.
My computer is called wisent (European buffalo) and I like that animal thoroughly too. Neither are predators but both can be fierce.

I wouldn't want them Pullmann style, but I wouldn't want 1 author (whose work I personally do like a lot) dictate how I see an age old phenomenon.

Well, I agree with you about Pullman - I shouldn't let one author put me off. But I really don't want an animal guide, and I suppose other authors put me off the idea in the distant past, like Carlos Castaneda, for example.

I prefer the idea of a supernatural guide (like an angel or dragon), or an anthropomorphic guide.
