Date: 2009-02-17 04:47 pm (UTC)I still wouldn't turn it down. But the north stole my heart in another way.

Date: 2009-02-17 04:50 pm (UTC)I adore Nova Scotia, which is, as far as I'm concerned, by far the nicest part of Canada. Yes, even nicer than the area around Georgian Bay, and that's saying a lot.

Date: 2009-02-17 06:14 pm (UTC)My dream place to visit is Petra in Jordan, but am not sure I'll ever get there. Also would love to go to Iceland to drool over the geology, be fascinated by the use of geothermal power and inspired by their history (longest running parliament in the world - the Manx parliament was initiated earlier, but has not been in continuous session since its inception).
Northumberland/Durham/Borders is one of the most gorgeous areas of England. I also love Cumbria, and it's great that my parents now live there. I like Yorkshire too there are some wonderful names like Ugglebarnby as well as the wild and windy moors.

Your parents live in Cumbria! Lucky!
And yes, Yorkshire is gorgeous and amazing. One of the nicest places I've ever been.

Oh. Wait a minute. Of all people, you do. Understood.
Scotland (the West Highlands around Ballachulish and Oban)
When I was travelling around Scotland in 1977 we went there, and I went up on a hill where there was a ruined something or other (castle? tower? fort? Bit of fortified masonry) and I sat sketching it on my sketch pad with the whole vista of Mull and the coast spread out below me. It was so gorgeous. Now, I can't draw, you understand, but that wasn't the point.
Malta (score 2 for Rosiespark)
Yeah. Wonderful place.
I've never been to Berkeley Castle. Hmm. Must do something about that.
