I'd invited my friends Pat and Sandi over to see the Doctor Who 2007 Christmas Special, Voyage of the Damned - my favourite of the Christmas specials.

They noticed the suitcases in my bedroom, and asked, jokingly, if I were going somewhere. I explained how my old chest of drawers (which they'd given me in the first place) had given up the ghost and how I was going to assemble the new chest of drawers from Ikea that was waiting in boxes till I could get it assembled.

Pat looked thoughtful, and then, as we started watching Voyage of the Damned, he started puttering with it. He did it slowly and methodically, and now I have a beautifully assembled chest of drawers in my bedroom.

After enjoying Voyage of the Damned, we watched two episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures, "The Warriors of Kudlak". [livejournal.com profile] maaseru joined us for supper, and I was mortified that my chicken burned. I seriously need a new oven, or at least a new thermometer on my oven.

While making my grasshopper pie earlier, I watched Torchwood 2x01, "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang". Enjoyed it mightily. This time I interpreted the Jack/Ianto office scene (where Jack asks Ianto on a date) somewhat differently than before. Interesting...

And? Are you going to explain the differences? I'd love to know... Curious Torchwood addicted minds are curious!!!

Please?

And yay for nice people building drawers!

I didn't answer this before because I wasn't sure what to say. Basically it was that Jack was reacting to Ianto's anger (and insecurity) in a new way - a way that was unfamiliar to him. Thrown off kilter by the year apart, perhaps.

Thanks for sharing the thinky stuff! That is similar to the way I see that scene, and much of the other interaction in that ep.

I do love that episode; it has lots of food for thought. I understand Jack's thinking processes less well than I sometimes do; I'm not sure what his attitude to Captain John really is. I'm also not sure what he would have said to Gwen if she hadn't told him she was engaged to Rhys.

Another thought was that a year in chains being pretty much helpless, and being rejected by the Doctor, was enough to shake Jack's self-confidence. If the Doctor didn't want him, maybe Ianto didn't, either - ?

LOL!

All I need now is to put my drawers in the drawers... the clothes are all still in the suitcases. There's my priorities for you: instead of putting the clothes away, I came to talk about it on LJ.

Sometimes things don't seem real until they're on LJ.

And isn't it satisfying to talk about what's been going on? It sets the seal on the day, or something. My friends tease me for my LJ addiction, but I think it's a wonderful thing.

I certainly think so. It's so... I don't know if 'relaxing' is the word. Satisfying, that's the word. Healthy!
