Homecoming (and Going)
Jack once found happiness on the TARDIS. For more than a century he had dreamed of it, longed for it, waited for its return.
Now here it was, with the Doctor grinning at him, half "come-hither" and half "stay-away". "So," the Doctor's casual tone fooled no one, "Want to stay?"
Jack swallowed. "Can't. Duty." He had another home now. Earth. Torchwood. The team.
"Just for a spin?"
"If I stay, I'll never go back. They need me more than you do. I love them."
"Jack! You've gone native!"
Jack smiled at memories. "No. Found a place of my own."

I like the combination of regret and fondness you've got in Jack here, the pull in two directions.

Thank you! I think Jack has his heart in two places, two homes, as it were. He knows that he has to follow his conscience rather than his inclinations if he is ever to be worthy of the Doctor in his own eyes. His essential dilemma.

Great job!
