Writer's Block: Under the Same Sign

Cuspy Libras, hmm?
There is a list of people with my birthday on Wikipedia. I am happy to see both a porn star (Katja Kassin) and a hockey player (Karl Alzner). Most of the names are unknown to me. Of all the list, the only one I both know about and truly admire is Jim Henson.
I've had friends with the same birthday as mine, but none who were born in the same year.
Do I find similarities between me and the people on this list? - Well, except insofar as all humanity shares certain attibutes... no. I'd like to think they are more intelligent, creative, and charming than the rest of the world, but no. They're just people, like everyone else.

Date: 2008-12-18 06:31 pm (UTC)I've got William Morris, Harry Houdini, Steve McQueen, Clyde Barrow (of Bonnie and...), and Alyson Hannigan. I'm... an arty-farty show-off escape artist. Not too far from the truth. Well, pretty near the truth. Okay, I'm an arty-farty show-off escape artist.
And GDL is a couple of days after me, the arty-farty show-off. ;-)

Date: 2008-12-18 07:38 pm (UTC)Not bad, hmm? He's the famous, illustrious one I usually get on these lists. thing is, I've never read F. Scott Fitzgerald so I don't have much of an impression of him. He had some connection to Dashiel Hammett, didn't he?
William Morris -now, that's cool!
Clyde Barrow. Heh.
Alyson Hannigan is good, too.

Heh. The stars know.

My goodness yes! (And he's so cute with it, too.)

Date: 2008-12-18 11:38 pm (UTC)The list of people born on that date includes people like Noah Webster, Oscar Wilde, Eugene O'Neill, and (Albanian Dictator) Enver Hoxha.
As you said, just a cross-section of humanity at large.

Date: 2008-12-19 08:51 am (UTC)I can honestly say that if I were American, I would not be a Republican.
But then there are people like Frida Kahlo, the Dalai Lama, Pete Singer, Geoffrey Rush and Jennifer Saunders. But I don't feel I have much in common with any of those people either. :-)

Date: 2008-12-19 12:27 pm (UTC)Eeeee! Poor you! Bad Karma or what!
I can honestly say that if I were American, I would not be a Republican.
[g] Personally, I don't understand how anyone could be a Republican, but... don't tell my American friends I said that, okay?
But then there are people like Frida Kahlo, the Dalai Lama, Pete Singer, Geoffrey Rush and Jennifer Saunders.
Who is Jennifer Saunders? (No time to look her up at the moment... I'm about to leave for work. Sigh.)
But I don't feel I have much in common with any of those people either. :-)
Even if astrology were as valid as some claim - and I don't myself think it's entirely bogus - it makes no sense that all people of the same birthdate would be similar, regardless of the year they're born.

Date: 2008-12-19 12:43 pm (UTC)As for astrology, I don't think it's entirely bogus either, but even in its own terms, you're only going to share your "sun sign" with people born in different years to you. There's all the other planets and the time you were born as additional variables.
And, hey, if I had Jackie Stallone as a mother, perhaps I'd be tying bandannas around my head and pretending to macho it out in assorted Hollywood jungles. :-)

Oh - I should have known that. But I didn't.

LOL - yup, we all have reasons for being what we are.

Date: 2008-12-19 08:31 pm (UTC)Ignaz Philipp Semmelweis (July 1, 1818 – August 13, 1865), also Ignac Semmelweis (born Semmelweis Ignác Fülöp), was a Hungarian physician called the "saviour of mothers" who discovered, by 1847, that the incidence of puerperal fever, also known as childbed fever could be drastically cut by use of hand washing standards in obstetrical clinics.
I love the progress of science!!!
(BTW do you know that the hospital where he worked the morgues was on the other side of the hallway and the same physicians did duty there and in the laborward?

Date: 2008-12-19 08:36 pm (UTC)Yes, and isn't it nice to be born after the 19th century?
the same physicians did duty there and in the laborward?
Shudder.
