Flight Path

Jack hadn't slept in his bed. Nothing new there. John only regretted that his bed wasn't the one Jack had been in.

When Jack hadn't shown up by noon, John asked Duty Officer Meret. "Where's Jack?"

"Gone AWOL. Stole a KXB-transport and vamoosed. Hid his trail with a time-bomb... Man seems an airhead, then he pulls a tough stunt like that. We'll never catch him now."

"Will he come back?"

"Weren't you listening? No. He's gone rogue. Outlaw. If you see him, shoot him on sight."

Meret was kidding. Wasn't he?

Jack. Jack! Why didn't you take me with you?

Okay, I love your repurposing of the lowly 21st century time bomb as a fantastic 51st century time weapon! :-D

Glad you liked my time-bomb. I'm sure the Time Agency has some spiffy weapons - and I'm sure Jack made the most of all of them.

I thought he had been rogue for awhile before the empty child.

Yes, he had. Quite a passage of time between this point and then, and I don't just mean 51st century to 1941... But we've never been told how much subjective time it was in Jack's timeline.

Glad you enjoyed it.

I remember him saying that he stole the ship from a woman who he told he was just 'borrowing' from a few hours.

I assume that was not the first ship he stole. That was a Chula warship, not a transport ship.
