Shades of Gray

Gray had large hands, like Jack.

If there were other similarities, John couldn't see them. Gray's mind was a wasteland. "You were thinking of Jack." Gray slapped his face again. Chained to the wall, John couldn't avoid the blows. "You will help me destroy him."

In your dreams, thought John, but said nothing.

"I know where he is now," said Gray. "I'm going to send you to him. My weapon."

"No," whispered John. He wanted to see Jack more than anything in the universe. Love was the cruellest torture of all.

Gray smiled. "My angel of death," he said, possessively.

I like John trying to see similarities between Jack and Gray, and finding not much.

For some reason I hadn't thought about how John might have become Gray's hostage. Seems like that would be an important story!

Thanks for catching the 'walll' reference - how'd I miss that? (Sigh.) World's worst proofreader, but I really, really appreciate the help.

I find John's story fascinating. Plan to play with it some more. He thought he was rescuing Gray for Jack's sake, and instead became John's prisoner - quite a story, from his point of view. I want to tell more of it.
