Appreciation of the TARDIS...

I can't imagine living in a country where such things happen. Where TARDISes are made and auctioned. Where people know what it is and put it in their allotment.
I want one, and an allotment to put it in.
Having a Doctor inside it would be all right, too.

Date: 2009-01-14 08:17 am (UTC)I can't imagine people not recognising one! Of course I'm old enough to recall (just) when police boxes were ubiquitous and used by actual policemen. Once upon a time the TARDIS actually did merge into the street furniture...

Date: 2009-01-14 05:07 pm (UTC)There are levels of recognition. I don't know but I imagine most Canadians won't have a clue. (My friends are not typical in this regard.) Until I started watching DW a few years ago, I thought the TARDIS was a blue phone booth. I had no idea what a Police Box was, or that the TARDIS was labelled as such.
It may be iconic, as they say, all over the UK, but not here. You don't even see it. And the CBC hardly publicizes the show.
