Looking forward to...

- Torchwood series 3
- The next set of three Torchwood novels, including the new aduiobook CD, Torchwood: In the Shadows.
- The four upcoming Doctor Who specials.
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine, with its inclusion of Gambit
- Dollhouse
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine, with its inclusion of Gambit
I'd like to say the Watchmen movie, and George R.R. Martin's A Dance With Dragons, but I have no faith either of these will actually appear in 2009. I'd also say the new Miles Vorkosigan novel by Lois McMaster Bujold, but I'm not sure when it is coming out.
I'm also looking forward to watching and commenting on more Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes, but that isn't new material - except to me.

Date: 2009-01-10 03:37 am (UTC)As for Torchwood and Doctor Who, I'm discovering that my Priority Queue is just too full. I have other fish to fry, including books (non-fiction and otherwise) to write and a lot of studying.
Dammit, life is just too short for some of the plans I have up my sleeve. I had better exercise (or maybe take up yoga) just to extend it. I am frequently reminded of what are said to be Cecil Rhodes' last words: "So little done, so much to do." The fact that much of what he wanted to do would be something *we* may view as deplorable is (I think or hope) secondary to that kind of purpose.
Case in point: research I did in Wikipedia today has breathed life into an idea that has been simmering in the back of my mind for years if not decades. The EUREKA moment just happened earlier today. I'll scribble more someday soon about it, but for now, I'm keeping it under wraps ... it may just prove to be a flash in the pan.
With moments like *that*, what chance fandoms? :-/

Date: 2009-01-10 01:24 pm (UTC)I think it will be worth it. Yes, good trailer! Hoping for buses... or friends who are going. We might manage a joint movie-trip with the OSFS crowd or something.

Me too. Note do self: do some yoga today.
The EUREKA moment just happened earlier today.
Yay! Congratulations!

Date: 2009-01-15 01:26 am (UTC)I am so glad that I saw The Spirit when I did, as I then ended up having no chance to see movies again till -- pretty much now. And it is no longer in the theatress. This is a travesty. Crap like Yes Man is still running, or that execrable vampire movie, but one of the most visually stunning pieces of work since... since... since The Hunger or Jeremiah Johnson goes away in two weeks?
I predict that it will live forever on DVD.

Date: 2009-01-15 02:44 am (UTC)So they say. But Fox won the rights to distribution, as I understand it; I thought this might delay it. Or not. Maybe whatever difference it makes will be invisible to us.
I don't know whether The Spirit is still playing here. I don't want to know; there's no way I could walk to any of the theatres it might be at.
