That got me thinking about moments I would cite as favourites. Thinking about it, I realized how polarized season 2 was for me: some episodes that depressed me and almost turned me off the show, others that I adored and which revived my love. Needless to say, my favourite moments usually appear in those favourite episodes.
My favourite things about Season Two Smallville
- the physical appearance of the Kryptonian writing whenever we have seen it
- Dr. Virgil Swann
- Lex reciting John Donne
- "Redux" - the moment where Lex blows a kiss at Clark
- all encounters between Martha Kent and Lionel Luthor
- Clark's jump from the Daily Planet building to the LuthorCorp building in "Insurgence"
- bad!Chloe, and all instances of interaction between Chloe and Lionel
- Clark's remarkable running scene in "Prodigal"
- Lex showing Ryan his comics in "Ryan"
- Lex working (all sweaty) in the Kent barn in "Prodigal"
- Desiree coming on to Clark in "Heat"
- the scenes between Clark and the Cigarette Smoking Mayor
- Lex showing his Clark Museum to Helen
- Lex with a punching bag
- Lex talking to Emily in "Accelerate"
- Lex bailing out Clark with the law at the showdown with Dr. Garner and Ethan in "Ryan"
- Martha hiding the octagon in the flour tin
- the moment in "Prodigal" when it was revealed that Lionel could see
- the moment when Lex shot Nixon in "Vortex"
- Chloe's letter to Clark in "Fever"
- Chloe's fight with Clark in "Lineage"
- Lionel with a child's tea cup

I thought she was adorable in her final scene with Lionel, trying to be all sophisticated and get information from a Luthor.
I adore season one Chloe too. With a passion. What a great girl. It's just a treat to watch those episodes and see her as she was - as she should be!

(You *are* sure you don't mean: "the off-screen scene in which Lex blows Clark"?)

Date: 2003-08-23 08:08 am (UTC)Oh, well, that one's a favourite for sure! But no, it isn't what I meant. The millisecond I refer to is onscreen, but so quick (or obscure) it's hard to catch. Sort of like the Clark running scene in "Prodigal", you have to have it pointed out, but once you see it, you're thinking, "Wow! How could I miss that?"
It's when Clark and Lex have arrived at the barried at the school and Principal Reynolds is giving Clark a hard time - lecturing him - and Clark glances at Lex and Lex looks at Clark and make a little face, a pursed-lip thing that the more you look at it, the more it looks as if he's blowing a kiss....
Really. Have another look. Try it in slow motion. See what you think. Even if you decide it isn't a kiss, it's a wonderful, wonderful visual Clex moment.
I started out thinking it was just a Lexish moue, a reaction to what Reynolds was saying, but the more I watched it the more it looked like a kiss. My slashy imagination? I dunno, but I convinced myself.
