A whole new year beckons.

I started it by sleeping late, finishing reading a Torchwood novel, listening to John Barrowman CDs, and baking muffins. And about to watch The Lord of the Rings in moments. With some of my favourite people.

It's a good start to 2009 already.

I also slept late, played computer games, listen to audio book of V for Vendetta and worked some on my thesis. Plus some phone calls.

Sadly, I had no Lembas on hand, so I made bran muffins.

We were watching the whole thing as a marathon, starting with the third movie, but after seeing the first, we stopped halfway through the second, because we have things to do still and have to be at work early tomorrow. Except for maaboroshi, who is lucky enough to have the day off.

We'll probably watch The Two Towers another day.

Yes, because lunacy_girl always has to leave before the end of the last one we see, and therefore she usually misses most of The Return of the King. This way she got to see all of the ending. We've all seen them enough, and read the books enough, that it didn't matter, story-wise.

Seeing them out of order gave an interesting perspective. One thing we really noticed was the contrast between the darkness of the third movie and the colourful brightness of the first.

Ah. I don't think it would matter story-wise for me at this stage, either. But the momentum that builds up would be sort of ruined.

It isn't recommended as the way of always watching the movies, but it does underscore that each section has its own momentum.

And each part is wonderful in its way.
