I Took Your Name

A lifetime of love in a few brief hours. Jack danced with Jack in 1941, knowing it was all they could ever have together. Captain Jack Harkness had given him inspiration, renewed faith, hope. He had found the balance where death enhances life, where life is lived on the pinnacle of truth.

Live for love. Die for duty.

Jack sighed in his arms, wishing he had something to give back besides love. He had to leave - a cruel abandonment for them both.

He whispered, "I took your name." It sounded like nonsense. It would mean nothing.

But it was everything.

I think Jack likes symbolic gestures - as well as practical ones.

He doesn't keep a lot to remember people by, but clearly memories are important to him.
