Seems to me that all those examples are hinted or suggested by the canon at some point, though not pursued in the storyline. Spike/Angel is pretty much canonical, isn't it? At least as background?

Obviously Jack/Ianto is intended by the writers, and Jack/John, and I call Jack/Nine canon, though Jack/Ten is another matter. It's there, but one-sided.¹ Jack/Gwen, check, even if it's a road-not-taken deal. Personally I'd really, really like to see Jack/Tosh and Tosh/Gwen. Or Martha/Gwen. Or Jack/Martha. We certainly do see Donna's attraction to Jack on the show, and the hug she gets from him. Too bad she's forgotten he ever existed now. As Jack once said to Gwen, "You'll have forgotten me entirely. Now, that's a tragedy."

Most traditional slash pairings I have followed would fit this question: Kirk/Spock, Mulder/Skinner, Mulder/Krycek, Krycek/Skinner, Bodie/Doyle, Clark/Lex, Horatio Hornblower/Captain Sir Edward Pellew (and all the permutations with sexy Lord Edrington), Gambit/Magneto, and so on.

Though I don't pay much attention to Harry Potter fandom, I do have a conceptual liking for Harry/Draco.

Infamously, when it comes to Lymond, I wanted Lymond to end up with Kate rather than Philippa. I am not complaining - we got a magnificent story out of it - but damn. I adored Kate.

I would also like to see more Ianto/Tosh. I know it's weird, but there's something about those two that could be pretty awesome. I think they both have hidden sides to their personalities that could really shine between the two of them.

Is Snape/Harry overlooked? I always thought that pairing was excellent. Also, Lucius/Snape - ah the power struggle. Hmm, how about Lucius/Draco? (yeah, incest, I know - it's a guilty pleasure.)

Interesting idea. I've been writing Ianto/Tosh. I just haven't managed to finish the fic yet.

Indeed. And he calls NINE damaged!

I've seen some Gwen/Martha fiction and I think I saw a few Jack/Tosh stories but the most common fanfic I've seen mixing it up for Torchwood involve Owen and fillintheblank.

Snape/Harry is the first slash pairing I'd ever read and it's what got me into fanfic and fandoms. I owe the last 4 years of my life to that pairing. :D

With Tosh's brain and Ianto's organizational skills, a Ianto/Tosh pairing would surely have ended up with them banding together in a quest for world domination - which come to think of it, wouldn't be such a bad idea!

Jack/Doctor is my favourite, particularly Jack/Nine. Next would be Jack/John and Jack/Gwen (gasp! can't believe I like a het pairing! - that almost never happens.)

I like Jack/Gwen more as an unresolved sexual tension pairing. I've tried Jack/John but I couldn't really get into it, and any Doctor pairings are difficult for me because he seems so asexual to me.

Technically-minded they are very compatible, but I also think because of their more introverted natures they understand each other in a way that Jack, Gwen, or Owen couldn't (because those three are so extroverted). I imagine the Ianto/Tosh pairing to either be very sweet, or for them to really let their naughty/wicked sides come out and be a lot of fun.

They're very compatible personalities, partly because they are both usually good at hiding their deeper feelings, and then are capable of doing remarkable (and unexpected) things.

They also each have a cute playful streak. A subtle sense of humour.

Oh yeah! But I also bet she'd start dissecting all the technical parts by saying something like, "That's not possible. If you reversed the molecularity flow on that it would cause a blow out that would destroy the building!"

And Ianto would reply, "But if you were able to shield the reversal through a stabilizer, you'd have a particle beam that could cut through steel."

Then Jack, Gwen & Owen say, "SHUT UP YOU GUYS! We're trying to watch the movie!!"

The Wicked Lady: Barbara and Caroline. It works wonderfully: does Barbara keeps poaching Caro's men, so that she has to stay with her? (I want another ending, expanding on the h/c scene when Caro puts her to bed and tends her wound.)

The Dark Side of the Sun: Raoul and Ismini. They're so perfect for each other – an elegant and sophisticated immortal Knight Templar with psychic powers, who needs a psychiatrist (700 years of PTSD!), and an elegant and sophisticated female psychic who is a psychiatrist – but the writer, M J Bird, just couldn't see it!
