Tuesday miscellanea....
Aug. 19th, 2003 03:33 pmOn Rideau St., on the way to the fitness club at lunchtime, I caught a snip of conversation: one young man saying to another, "Karaoke and prostitutes, what could be better?"

Yesterday I saw someone with a black T-shirt on, in white lettering on his back, "Teach your children to worship Satan." I thought of John Glover and grinned.

I'm going home from work early today: have to meet up with the repair person who will be fixing my digital cable box. Something is wrong: from channel 87 to 700 or so, all I can get is blocks of frozen colour instead of a TV picture.

I left the air conditioning off, since they say that if our power usage goes up to normal levels again, we'll have more blackouts. Yuck. When will things be back to normal? Luckily it isn't as hot as they said it would be, but air conditioning would be good. Often I leave the television on when I go to work - tuned to the 'nature sounds' music station, which the birds like, except when they play the howling of coyotes. That makes the little guys nervous. Some things on that station are great - surf sounds, woodland sounds; but they tend to play Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" so often that I am getting heartily sick of that piece (which I used to love), and I can't recall that Beethoven ever played it on a continuous loop.

Date: 2003-08-19 02:11 pm (UTC)Wow. Hee! I've always wanted to be one of those awful people who feel totally entitled to just interject a cruel comment into someone else's conversation, and the thing is, the comments come to me like that. My first thought reading that?
"It's one thing to pay women to sleep with you, but for god's sake, don't make them listen to you sing!"
