Last LJ where I saw this Christmas Wishlist was on [livejournal.com profile] mad_jaks LJ:

Wishlist Instructions:

Step One
Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Doctor/Jack icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new castle in the Loire Valley.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two
Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals, or holiday_wishes) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

So here goes.

My List of Ten Christmas Wishes

1) Romantic, sexy, funny and/or dramatic fics featuring Jack/Doctor.

2) Any stories about Captain Jack Harkness. Just about any pairing or threesome, canonical or otherwise, crossover or otherwise. M/M or M/F or both combined. Or gen, comedy, drabbles, poems, anything.

3) A Gwen/Tosh fic.

4) Picspam with Captain Jack Harkness, John Barrowman, the Doctor, Christopher Eccleston, or David Tennant.

5) Recommendations. This could be recommendations of interesting fic I might not already have found. This applies especially to Torchwood and Doctor Who, but I'd love to know what good fic there is about other shows I've seen - Heroes, The Eleventh Hour and Life, for example.

But I'd also love recommendations for other things, too - websites, online games (particularly free ones), books, music, TV shows, movies, freeware computer programs, websites, LJ communities or personal LJs, fan merchandise and crafts and places I can get them, picture sites, jokes, puzzles, quizzes. Anything interesting.

6) Beta-readers. I always need beta readers. Offers to beta my fic would be wonderful.

7) Prompts. I love writing prompts. Especially romantic ones.

8) Discuss episodes with me - in e-mail or on LJ or however. I love discussing episodes. I love analyzing characters and stories with people. I'm starved for Torchwood and Doctor Who fannish talk.

9) Icons. I love good icons.

10) Encouragement! I love to be encouraged to write.

And if I were to ask for physical stuff, what I'd want is fannish stuff. Anything. Home-made or commercial. Anything with fannish images on them - things I've got in the past (and love) are coasters, mouse pads, mugs, patches, T-shirts, books, pictures (photos or fan art), magazines, comics, action figures, playing cards, trading cards ... Yeah. I love it all.

And since I'm asking, can I also have peace on earth, a TARDIS, and strawberry shortcake with no calories?

Thank you.

You don't want a TARDIS. Trust me. It only visits dystopias [g].

I know what you mean about 6 and 10. I think you tried reading my stuff and didn't get far, though...

Well, it visits London in 2008...

Oh. Point taken.

I think you tried reading my stuff and didn't get far, though...

I still want to read the rest of your story and see how it ends! I ran out of time and got distracted and deflected - but haven't lost interest and was thinking of begging you for more of except I'm exceedingly embarrassed about it all and a little afraid to raise the subject because I feel like a bad, bad friend to have left you hanging there.

And your point is? [g,d,r]

I can send more if you want it. I just didn't want to be forcing it on you if you didn't. I can always use feedback, and you don't need to be embarrassed. Then again, if you're just saying that to be polite, please feel free to tell me that, too. 'Kay?

I'm never that polite, and always honest. And I'd love to see more. I don't remember where I left off, though.

It's up to you, if you want to start over, or just go on. I think you got about two chapters in, actually.

From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
Starting over might be a good idea because I'd then refresh my memory and not be wondering who characters were, if there were names I'd forgotten.

Tell you what. I'll trade chapters with you via email. One of mine for one of yours (or equivalent). That work?

One of mine for one of yours (or equivalent). That work?

Eeek! Yes... theoretically... but only if I get to work.

And that's darn good encouragement.

Let me think about this.

I think I can grant a couple of those by introducing you to [livejournal.com profile] phantomminuet who has recently discovered Torchwood, needs to be introduced to Doctor Who and who is FAHBYOOLOUS at making icons. Hmmmm...how does one do a Live Journal introduction?

Hmmmm...how does one do a Live Journal introduction?

I think what I would do would be to send a message to each of the parties concerned saying, '[livejournal.com profile] phantomminuet, meet [livejournal.com profile] fajrdrako. [livejournal.com profile] fajrdrako, meet [livejournal.com profile] phantomminuet. I think you'd find each other interesting and you have a love of Torchwood in common.'

Alternately, I'd just send [livejournal.com profile] fajrdrako [livejournal.com profile] phantomminuet's name and leave her to toddle over to that LJ for a look and a visit. Which I will probably do tomorrow.

Thank you!

I think I'll do intros on my own journal like someone once did for me.

[livejournal.com profile] phantomminuet recently discovered Torchwood and is looking for people to hold lengthy meta type discussions with. I sent her to the TW_Meta community but later discovered it's gone dormant. So this is a great idea. IMNSHO, of course.

I think it's a brilliant idea! I'm all for it. Meta! yes! Analysis of what, where, who, and why, and what we think about it.

Beta! I can occasionally beta! Anything not involving the last four eps of DW s4 (I will catch up, I promise!) from DW/TW. Up to end of s2 Heroes. (ditto about catching up). Etc. etc you mostly know what I watch/read ;)

You are welcome! :D (and EEEEEE I passed 50K words written on a single story for the month of November and am about 6K words of actually completing a novelish type thing and am so all over the place atm that it's not even funny I DID IT! I mean, NaNoWriMo...)

Thankee! I didn't expect to be able to make it, I've never done anything of that scale before! ... at least I can freely tell myself it's sloppy writing and when it's evened out, it'll probably be 20 000 words overall ;)

From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
I think that's wonderful. And there isn't that much difference between writing 20 fics each 1,000 words long, and one fic that's 20,000 words or more. It just feels different.

Date: 2008-11-27 01:47 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kikibug13.livejournal.com
I had never even done THAT, although I've seen chaptered fics around and everything. Most of the posts I've made (sections/installments) go between around 1000 and 3000 words each.

5) May I recommend Faction Paradox?
So far I've only gotten my hands on the audio books but there are 'normal' books as well as comics.
Also, they were introduced in dr Who books. (So I want those as well). Anyway, the audio is enough to seriously wet some appetite. They are rather eeeh... weird. And violent. With Gods. Who are no Gods. (Egyptian) And a lot of history manipulation. Anyway, if you are interested I can get you the audio (9 ep. so far) did I mention it is a bit weird?

7) What did Jack do the day before he met the Docter and Rose in London?

10) Ga zo door! Je bent goed bezig!

I can offer you a couple of Merlin recs? Because that's pretty much what I'm reading atm. That and MCR RPF, which I can't help feeling slightly guilty about but read anyway...

And let me point you at MCR's new website (http://mychemicalromance.com/) which has updates (updeets? Or op-daets?) by all of them. Gerard's Beardstown post (the third one down) is most endearing. He knows that he pretty much fails at growing facial hair. :D

Ok, will get working on recs. I can always lock the MCR ones to counter the weirdness...

The updeet/op-daet thing was Gerard having fun with words when announcing an update to the webpage. ♥ I'm not sure I'm not slightly alarmed by how very much I like him!

I am trying to work out the intricacies of Twitter, mainly to follow Bob's (surprisingly prolific) exchanges with fans, from which we learn that Frank has 19 dogs and Bob himself has 6 hands and thirty fingers. I suspect both statements may be slight exaggerations.

How far have you got with your Merlin-watching? Because it affects what I can safely rec...

And I've just spent several hours completely unaware of the passage of time - writing Merlin-based fic! Hurrah! I haven't felt moved to write for ages, so this feels fantastic. :D

Might you be available to beta it? It won't be terribly long and I wouldn't be in a hurry, promise. It's spoilery through episode 5, though, so you'd need to have watched at least that far.

I've only seen the first three episodes. Will watch more as soon as I have any time at all. Bring on the recs - ! Or at least, list 'em, and I'll read after I've watched up to date. Should be soon, I hope.

I've just spent several hours completely unaware of the passage of time - writing Merlin-based fic!

Yay! Wonderful!

Might you be available to beta it?

I'd be delighted to beta it. Eager, even. I love your writing and I love Merlin. But not having seen episodes 4 and 5... Well, use your own judgement. I can watch them tomorrow, if that helps.

(Throwing all the other things I ought to be doing to the winds!)

I'll try and do a "spoilery up to episode X" note for each rec then. But you really have to watch the remaining eps SOON. Because it just keeps getting better!

Aww, thank you! ::gets the warm fuzzies:: Not sure when it'll be finished, though, since I haven't had the time or energy to get back to it. *sigh*
