Faith

Religion was delusion and prayer a waste of breath, but Jack had his own articles of faith.

He stood on a rooftop, staring out over Cardiff. He was looking for anomalies, things the naked eye might pick up that Tosh's machines might miss.

He kept his ears open, too.

Tarot Girl had said that he'd meet the Doctor again in the twenty-first century. Knowing what she was, Jack knew that even though she was annoying, she was right. The Doctor would come back for him. Soon.

So Jack listened for the song of the TARDIS, and waited for the inevitable.
