Interview Meme
The rules:
1. Leave a comment saying you want to be interviewed.
2. I'll reply and give you five questions to answer.
3. You'll update your LJ with the five questions answered.
4. You'll include this explanation.
5. You ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed. And it just keeps going, and going, and going.
So my first interviewee is
halloftwotruths.
I hang out in the Hall of Two Truths along with my stuck-up cousin Ma'at, but you can call me Sesh ;-)
And I volunteered for this, Cap'n.... Questions courtesy of user
(1) What has been the best thing about fandom for you?
The sense of community, without question. The acceptance and encouragement I've received, and most of all, the friends I've made. The realization that there are kindred spirits out there, and I'm not a total freak ;-) Validation as a female, too, I think.
(2) How has your love of history affected your participation in fandom, and vice versa?
Hmm....I don't really know if I'm drawn to historical fandoms because of my interest in history...I don't think so. I'm drawn to fandoms because of the characters & the actors, not because of the time they're set in. Having said that, though, once I am involved in a historical fandom, I love reading all about the era, and striving to "get it right" in my fic. I also think that in some ways, writing either historical fic or sci-fi fic is easier (for me at least) than writing in a contemporary fandom, and I wonder if that's a cop-out on my part. Hm... Every time I think about writing in a contemporary fandom, I chicken out. I guess I feel more comfortable putting my characters in another time or place, for some reason. Don't really know why.
(3) If you could, with a magic wave of your hand, change one major thing in your life, what would it be?
It'd be easy to say that I want to be rich (who doesn't?). Money woes are certainly the biggest ones in my life currently, and have been for what seems like forever. But if I was totally honest, I'd wish that I was in a situation where I had family and close friends/significant other nearby or living with, so that I felt I had a loving support system. I'm increasingly depressed about the fact that I will be a solitary and lonely old bat without anyone around who gives a fig what becomes of me, when I need support.
(4) Imagine you could have the prefect chef prepare for you the perfect meal: what would it be?
I love so many different kinds of food! It would have to include lobster. Lots of lobster & melted butter. Avocado/guacamole is another must. Fresh fruit - strawberries & whipped cream, berry creme brulee. Sweet & pungent shrimp. Beef satay with peanut sauce. Donuts! (Me & Homer Simpson!) Notice the dearth of healthy things.. ;-)
(5) Do you have a favourite fannish artist, and if so, who is it?
Even though I'm not a K/S fan, I've always admired Gayle Feyrer's work because I'm kinky enough to love Beardsley. Love the humor & cleverness in her work. I'm also partial to Jean Kluge. Nobody, however, seems to be into doing the actors or fandoms I'm potty over. Sigh...
