Currently? Jack and Ianto, I guess. And/or Gwen and Rhys.

When I think of it, my television preferences are filled with the unmarried, and it's easier for me to remember TV marriages I hated (e.g., Sheridan and Delenn on Babylon 5, Mulder and Scully on X-Files) than ones I liked.

I really loved Pop Larkin and Ma Larkin in The Darling Buds of May. And Richard Sharpe's first wife was cool.

Rowan and Martin (but it was the rest of the family I really liked).

Tom and Dick Smothers.

Napoleon Solo and Ilya Kuriakin.

Rather monogendric (if that wasn't a word, it is now) collection for a terminally straight guy. OK, I liked the Kirbys in Leo Carroll's Topper. But I barely remember those, now. Well, how about Giles and Buffy? Yeah, they're not a couple couple, but they get to interact more. Can't seem to let Buffy and Angel get together much or they get into big trouble.

Love 'em to bits. But I was being more literal.

Yeah, but they're great together - or at least, they were for a while. I might even cite Spike and Drusilla! Kind of off-beat, but that was part of of the fun.

Spike and Drusilla

Oh, yes. Great couple. But she ditches him!

Rowan and Martin's "rest of the family" (from Laugh In)

Arte Johnson (and I still enjoy him in Love at First Bite)

Goldie Hawn. Lily Tomlin. Pat Paulsen (who was always running for President - wonder if he's related to current Sec. of Treas.) Other superb comics whom I shamefully forget, but whose delight I recall.

Heartless vamp.

Why is it that all those comedians we're citing seem funnier to me than the ones we see today?

what is your favorite pairing on B5?

Well, if we're talking non-canonical slash, Sinclair/Garibaldi.

Otherwise... Hmm. I'm not sure I liked any of the other pairings, real or potential. Or maybe I just don't remember. My favourite character (after Garibaldi) was Lyta, but she didn't have any real connection except Ambassador Kosh, and I can't think of them as a pair.

I also really, really loved Galen, but I don't think he even met the B5 characters.

A woman after my own heart! I am not alone! Another Sinclair/Garibaldi fan! yeehaw!!

Do you know of any on the web? Is there any on LJ?

I always slashed Galen with the captain of the ship. there were some incredibly slashy moments on the show.

Oh, definitely. I wrote a Sinclair/Garibaldi story for a zine once - I'd like to put it online as soon as I get the chance. Or even, I suppose, on my LJ - it's a matter of finding it (easy, I think) and typing it out again.

I've never looked for Sincalir/Garibaldi stories online - that would be fun. Let's make a deal: you tell me if you find some, and I'll tell you if I find some.

Yes. Gideon, right? They had some great scenes. I didn't think the writing quality of Crusade was as good as B5, but then, B5 had deteriorated badly by then. But Crusade had some good characters.

Excellent.

I once met Peter Woodward at a con; he was terrific. Even better than I could have imagine, and he was slashing Galen and Gideon.

Which is probably why it came across so well on the show.

Dr John Cornelius and Samantha Valentine in Virtual Murder (1992) are one of my favourite canonical pairings. And you're right about Teresa in Sharpe: I stopped watching after her death. Spike and Drusilla, yes: I loved Dru.

But most of my favourite couples are cases that weren't canon, but should have been, e.g. Dr Ismini Christoyannis and Comte Raoul Lavallière in Dark Side of the Sun (1983): both intelligent, sophisticated, elegant, with psychic powers, and clearly perfect for each other (especially as he's got 700 years of PTSD and she's a shrink!) – but they hardly interacted at all (and then it's with sharp pointy objects). I'm definitely a shipper for them!

I suppose more of my fandoms are book/film than TV.

Good choices!

I'm generally more into books, but I find TV fun to talk about, partly because one can find a wider range of people to discuss it with. Unless one is talking about Harry Potter, which I generally don't.

I've never been what you'd call an avid TV viewer, and the programmes I do like on TV don't have a huge following, so there are few people I can talk to about them. I can generally find more people to talk about books and films. The quality of the discussion is more important than the number of participants.

Hah! I haven't seen 99% of the shows that are on and of what I've seen, I liked about... 5% maybe. But the things I love, I love with a passion. Like Doctor Who and Torchwood, as random examples.

Ah, now I didn't like them, except separately. But my attitude to Owen changed practically every episode. And I always loved Tosh. I'll miss her.

Why did you hate Sheridan/Delenn?

Couples, hmmm... I thought Captain Picard and Beverly Crusher would have made an excellent married couple although the seemed to be divorced in quite a few alternate universes. Crichton and Aeryn are cute but they took way too long to get together. I would have very much liked D'Argo and Chiana to stay together. Tara and Willow of course. Helo and his Cylon wife Athena are also a very cute, and faithful, couple. I even liked Jadzia Dax and Worf.

Friend couples: Geordi and Data were really sweet together. Buffy and Giles ditto. Commander Adama and Roslin.

Clearly, I very easy to please. :)

Why did you hate Sheridan/Delenn?

Because I liked Delenn so much as an alien ambassador. When she fell for Sheridan she became more human and more ordinary. I might have loved the pairing if she had remained as she was in season one.

I haven't seen enough of Farscape to know about the Crichton/Aeryn romance but I think they are both gorgeous.

Haven't seen Tara and Willow yet, not really. (Where I've watched, Tara has just been introduced.)

Bones and Booth. For that matter, House and Wilson [g].

I'd really like Charlie and Amita (from Numb3rs) if Amita actually had a life away from Charlie. But they are awfully adorable together.

Chuck and Sarah (from Chuck) are kind of cute. I've gone past annoyed with Derek and Meredith from Grey's Anatomy, and the other relationships on that show shift randomly too often to remember specific pairings [g].

Oh, and I loved Joel and Maggie from Northern Exposure for a while, too.

The only pair you mention that I actually know is House and Wilson, and - maybe because I don't know the show well enough - don't share the attraction. The problem is more with Wilson than with House: Wilson should be the Claudio, slashed with a youngish Branagh as Benedick.

I've seen Numb3rs and Grey's Anatomy a little but not enough to remember characters or plot.

I vaguely remember having a terrible crush on Maggie, if I'm remembering the right character. And I vaguely remember Joel. But I didn't remember them as a couple.
