I can relate to that. I'm not there yet, at least not quite, but the irresistible banner, the utter sexiness of both of them, the character/colouring contrast, the power-plays - um. Yes. I'm moving quickly from "conceivable" to "irresistible" there. If only I liked Angel just a teeny bit more....

S5 it's very difficult to avoid. Especially as there is always delicious snark and pettiness involved.
I'd say "careless" more than "clueless". I think he knows. It's just that there is so much power in so much of that stuff that he doesn't pay attention all the time. It's all there, all the arcane lore in history and any number of objects/materials to relate to it, and he has to pick and choose what to use and focus on.
Sometimes he genuinely doesn't understand the power of some of the objects he has to deal with and has accumulated. But careless use of power is a recurring theme.
