I was wondering if the black woman was his (temporary) companion.
That seems likely, given that she is rather striking looking, and attractive.
Were you eliminating her because she was wearing Victorian-era garb?
I wasn't so much eliminating her as noting that we don't see any of the already known and recognized companions - Martha or Donna or Rose. The rest, of course, is a mystery still to be revealed.
Well, that definitely put paid to the rumors in the British tabloid about this being his last season. Not that that made any sense to me, since why have the shortened season next year if not to make time for him to do Hamlet? But it was a very persistent rumor.

There were rumours like that last year, too. And David Tennant was saying, "Hey, I'm here, I'm not going anywhere, remember me?" amid all the speculation on who would be hired next to play the Doctor. (Always a fun question!)
