I was playing around at Jigzone and discovered that we can upload on our own pictures.

Oooh, said I, and promptly put in a picture of me at the Ring of Brodgar, here.

What fun. I think I'm going to enjoy playing with this. (A puzzle version of Captain Jack Sparrow. A puzzle version of Aragorn son of Arathorn. I've already done Clex puzzles, of course, including the wonderful ones that [livejournal.com profile] goss has on her site.)

I've loved jigsaw puzzles since I was a kid, and used to work on them with my father in his study in the evenings: 200-piece puzzles of dogs and kittens and castles and kids, while my father smoked his pipe and we talked about things. He and I got along very well in those days.

The joy of jigsaw puzzles has never left me, though I don't often do them these days. When I do them, I find them conducive to creative thought.

But time-consuming.

Very nice puzzle, Elizabeth!

(It took me nine minutes, but I was interrupted by Martha. Had to tell her about my slash faux pas this afternoon.)

I don't take the time to do puzzles much anymore, but I love them, too. Some of my favorites: a painting of a 17th century (I think) guy inspecting his art gallery (can't remember title/artist--maybe you know?), a Persian tile-painting called: "The Story of Bahram Gur", a huge puzzle of Vincent from BATB, and a stained-glass window from Chartres Cathedral.

Glad you liked the puzzle! I hope Martha was suitably shocked and sympathetic about your adventure!

I know the art-gallery painting you mean, but I can't place the title or artist either. My first thought was Vermeer, but that's wrong. It it's French. Watteau? Chardin? No, not quite Baroque enough. It will come to me. (Maybe.)

The others sound terrific, especially the one of Chartres. I love Chartres - of course.

That painting...

*g* That's how I'd describe her reaction. Shocked and sympathetic!

I know the art-gallery painting you mean, but I can't place the title or artist either.

I'm here on 5th floor with Lana (who's an artist). She knows the painting I'm describing (so did Andy)but neither of them know the artist or the name of the painting. Lana thinks it was "out of character" for whoever the artist was.

I think it was called "So-and-so Inspects His Gallery/Collection" or something like that. I can't get anything with keywords on Google.

Me neither! I'm not going to give up, though. I will remember. I will.

We are hopeless!
