Finally had a chance to look at The Captain's Blog again. Loved this line from Jack, referring to the events of "Adrift":

After Gwen had gone home, I just held on to Ianto for a couple of hours, as tightly as I could.

Awww. That's the most romantic line they've had yet. Sheer h/c.

I suspect Ianto liked it, too.

It's sweet, and it's so very much true to Jack's perspective - something we really didn't get in "Adrift" because it was all Gwen's point of view.

I'd love to see an episode in which Jack was holding John. We almost got it in "Exit Wounds" but I was left more unclear about the Jack/John relationship than ever. (This is not necessarily a bad thing, if it means we'll get more of it in future.)

Just makes me laugh wildly reading to comments from the gwen/jack shippers on there!!!! Cos Jack is really in love with Gwen. He just doesn't realise it yet!

Yes, and it is supposed to be an action-adventure show. The fact that it is an action-adventure show with romance and philosophy thrown in is a bonus. I can hardly demand extra scenes of Jack and Ianto cuddling - which my imagination can supply rather well anyway.

Frankly, I think my imagination does a much nicer job than they can do on the screen!

I think the balance is pretty good to be honest, with the addition of the books and the BBCA site. All builds into a very pleasant picture for Jack/Ianto.

The bits on screen I often find rather embarrassing. Like I'm about 9 again! It might be the fact that my partner hates them! Oh, and everyone dissects them and brings Gwen into things (like the dance) then it ruins it for me.

I'm just very odd!

Well, there's no explaining tastes, including our own. In most fandoms I have a greatly-preferred pairing, and I suppose I do here - Jack/Doctor - but since canon gives me such a complexity of riches I don't stop there and I like all sorts of pairings, primarily Jack with just about anyone. It has to do with the way Jack is written: how he can be so very loving in so very many ways.

Yes. I have trouble with that concept, but that's okay. I figure the legions of fans who feel that way can discreetly drop their eyes when they get to my sex-laden Jack/Doctor stories. (Which I mostly haven't written. Yet. My prefernce for the pairing still doesn't make it an easy one to write.)

See, I really think there is something wrong with me because I have read a lush Ianto/10 fic by one of my favourite authors which I had no problem with! Jack is really only allowed to shag Ianto! Very odd!!

I absolutely loved "Of All Trades" - a beautifully written story, showing Ianto at his best, but giving a good picture of the others, too. And very.... in character, convincing, as well as being hot.

"Appeasement" was fun but it was also weird because it was so very much the opposite of my own taste/kink for Jack and his relationships. Jack was almost written out of it, and hardly characterized at all. And since Ianto was mad at him, I didn't even have their relationship to fall back on, so I was left with Ten - who was lots of fun: I love stories in which Ten is perfectly comfortable with all kinds of sex. Still. It wasn't really a Ten story, either. I wish it had included Jack in the sex, rather than excluded him.
