This is maaseru, Lizzie's friend, with a quick note to say don't worry, she's fine, sort of, but she had a bad fall on the ice early this morning and is currently awaiting an operation to fix her ankle. As far as she knows it was broken in a couple of places and also dislocated. She is on good drugs.

I'll go back to the hospital shortly with a load of books and comics to cheer her up, and will report later as I am sure she won't be allowed up.

There might not be time but I'm sure your thoughtfulness will warm her heart. Because of a shortage of beds, the staff said she might stay in recovery all night, and I'll pick her up in the morning. Will post update as soon as I have news.

The birds, at least, will be fine, as I tend to overfeed them with scads of millet, to Lizzie's dismay, whenever I get the opportunity. She still feels the sting from the time the bird doc gazed at Pryde and pronounced "obese". Pryde was most displeased as well.
