I hope they give an reason for #4, otherwise it comes across as a very heavy handed way to reintroduce the characters.
Yes. If there's a reason for it, I think it's all rather clever and fun. (Possibly a little too cute, but that's not a problem.) If the blowfish guy is never explained - well. Yeah, heavy-handed, but also kind of pointless. And the story is about Captain John, as far as I know. Not Dr. Blow.
