They're now blocking the BBC Torchwood website so we can't look at it from outside the UK.

That is just cruel.

Did the Master take over the BBC suddenly?

Thank you! That's very basic - but it's something! Much appreciated.

Hmm: nice wallpaper. Good coats.

Thank you - one of those proxies got me into it. And it's nice-looking, too.

What nerve, to shut us out like that. You'd think we were some kind of aliens.

Seems like they know how many of us are going to download it and not wait for it to come to BBC America/Region 1 DVD!

IIRC, they did this with the Torchwood site the first time and I know they did it with the Sarah Jane site, but all the locks came off as soon as it started airing.

they did that with the first season as well!!!

(rights thing, do pay your BBC TV license and you are allowed.)

(not that I hesitate to use a proxie)

Hmmph. They want to make us wait. Don't they know we'll still watch it when it comes on CBC (however many years from now) and buy the DVDs as well?

Perhaps they want to whet our appetites by making it hard to get?

I won't... which is why I think in this day and age, media companies need to figure out how to make global media work "real time" Cuz, yeah, they will lose money off me, but if it was showing at the same time in North America, then yeah, I would watch it off the TV channel.

Yes. They fight over jurisdiction and we're impatient and want to bypass all that. We want it everywhere at the same time, but that's inconvenient for adverisers.

When I lived in Australia for 6 months, I watched the US "Survivor" and was only a week behind. (I didn't have high speed internet to download the show) So it does seem possible to be up to date within a reasonable amount of time.

I could still wait a week. I see Gossip Girl airs earlier in Canada and I see it available for download, but I still wait to have it recorded on my DVR. Admittedly, this is more the convience factor of me being able to watch it on my TV and not my computer, but there you have it, a reason nonetheless... I would wait a week, but not 6 months!

On Australian TV? That's pretty good. Canada didn't get Torchwood until a year after the UK showed it - and they still haven't finished series 1, which was over in the UK by January 1. By the time the CBC shows "End of Days", it will be at least 13 month since it was first shown in the UK.

Adding insult to injury, they showed series 3 of Doctor Who first, so the shows were out of order.

A week would be nothing. It's waiting a year I'm not so happy about.

The BBC are in trouble financially, and I think they're trying to protect their international sales. Torchwood is probably one of the few shows that foreign networks will pay a lucrative price for.

I wish them every success - financial and especially artistic.

But I would have thought that publicizing Torchwood on their website would enhance international success, and be a good thing!
