Out of curiosity- getting back to the possibility of establishing Jack's "american" credentials. Do you think he is really supposed to be an American? I always assumed it was part of the cover for the con he pulled in "Empty Child" that he needed a dead soldier whose papers he could fake. And I assumed he wanted it to be a dead American because the accent would be easier to fake.
