Heroes: The Kindness of Strangers...

Saw and loved Heroes again. Even though it went light on shirtless Peter scenes. Expectations have been raised. Thoughts:
- Nathan looking in the mirror seems very like Niki looking in the mirror. In season 2, we haven't seen the dark side of Nathan... could it be that he has power absorption abilities like Peter, and he absorbed Niki/Jessica's powers when he slept with her? Possibly he could have used those powers to survive the nuclear blast and save Peter.
- I'm not really into the Petrellicest, but I did love the scene where Nathan was looking at the pictures of young Peter. I now find Nathan exceedingly interesting. Yes, I'm becoming a Nathan fan. Loved his scene with his sons at the school.
- Matt's father is a player? My goodness. I wonder when we'll see Sylar's father turn up.
- When Mohinder and Matt fight they seem even more domestic than when they're taking care of Molly. And Mohinder is still incredibly beautiful.
- Does Clarie really think she can lie to Mr. Bennet? And get away with it?
- Does West?
- It's hard to like Monica. Her grandmother - even asleep - is much more interesting. I like Monica's powers, though.
- Loved the scenes with Angela Petrelli, especially when she was with Matt. Loved when she grabbed Nathan's lapels. I'm still suspecting that she killed her husband; and had an affair with Kaito Nakamura.
- I thought at the end of last episode ("Kindred") that Maya and Alejandro would be becoming more interesting with the appearance of Sylar. Not so. The only result is that Maya seems more stupid and Alejandro seems more ineffectual. But Sylar is interesting... and what is he up to?
- Okay, to be honest, I love Maya's voice, especially when she speaks English.
- West may not look much like Tom Welling really, but he has floppy dark hair and large eyes and he wears blue plaid shirts and flies, and sometimes carries a girl while he flies.... They're channelling Smallville. So where's the Michael Rosenbaum clone, hmm? On the other hand, there are half a dozen paternal characters who are rather too much like Lionel Luthor...
- So Matt really thinks he didn't father his wife's baby. This makes me feel all the more certain that he did.
- Claude, Peter needs you. Come back!

I hate that Claire and Dad are doing the secrets from each other thing again. I much prefer them reconciled and loving. And if that painting from last week comes true, it might be enough to tip me over into not really watching the show. That's how much I love Mr. Bennet.
I still don't get how Micah is related to these people he's with. We *met* D.L.'s mom, so Nichelle Nichols isn't her....

Date: 2007-10-16 05:03 am (UTC)I know. I mean I'll go with it, as it's what we've been given, but it seems contrived, even for a show with comic book internal logic.
Does Clarie really think she can lie to Mr. Bennet? And get away with it? Does West?
I just don't like the entire dynamic. Either West is a Company plant, or he's a kid who's baggage conflicts with Claire's baggage, or both. Either way, the storyline is an uncoming trainwreck and not in a satisfying way. Plus, I adore Bennet&Claire. They're soulmates. True love doesn't have to be romantic love. I object, on principle, to anything that drives them apart, considering each is realy the only one who understands the other.
As for the painting, if it depicts his literal death and not an illusion, the only way he'll survive is if he absorbs Claire's power somehow. Claire did bring up the possibility of helping people with her blood. Plus, Coleman hinted at something in an interview here:

Date: 2007-10-17 02:44 pm (UTC)Monica isn't interesting yet, but she has potential. Grandma's fun. Naturally. Mika seeming to be able to "read" Monica like he does electronics is interesting.
Sylar's always interesting. Maya and Alejandro are always not. Which is too bad.
West is a Clark Kent-wannabe plant from the Company. Totally. And I want a Lex. Mmmm... after all, Lex is the only thing that makes tolerating Clark worth it.
Matt doesn't need his wife and former baby. He has Mohinder and Molly! lol But you have a very, very good point.

From:Heroes: New Theory About The Paintings
Date: 2007-10-20 08:20 pm (UTC)Isaac’s Series Of Eight (SOE) is meant to be exactly that, a series of thematically linked paintings. What elements are in the two paintings we’ve seen so far: Kaito, Noah, Claire, and Mystery Guy. Kaito wasn’t just one of the Twelve. He had a fling with Claire’s grandmother, Angela, who acknowledged that “We gave her” to Noah to look after. This is literally, physically true. Angela’s former lover, Kaito, gave Claire to Noah. The first painting depicts Kaito’s death; the man who handed Claire to Noah is dead. Furthermore, Claire’s grandmother, Angela, is also marked and threatened by this same person. As of now (and I hope this changes, because the implications suck), we don’t have any evidence that any other Elder Supers are actually being targeted. Then, the final SOE painting depicts the death of Noah, the man to whom Angela, through Kaito, handed Claire. Kaito is dead. Angela is threatened (presumably with death). Claire is deprived of three links in a chain of protection. She goes from Angela’s arms to Kaito’s to Noah’s to Mystery Guy’s.
Like I said, the implications suck, and I’m really hoping (apart from the prevention of Noah’s death) that something in SOEs 2-7 contradicts my theory.

Re: Implications -- If it's even partially related to someone getting Claire, we risk seeing Sandra and Lyle at risk in the paintings.
Btw, that man Ando went to for the help with the scrolls is the same one from the Kensei on-line "documentary." I love it when they do stuff like that.
Nitpick -- I realize Nichelle Nichols is only there in a supporting capacity, but they need to do something with her.
