Squeaker has gone home. Her family came to pick her up today; and I miss her already. Not that the budgies aren't noise enough for any small apartment.
Since golden_hinde asked for a photo of Squeaker, I took one of her sitting in her owner's lap:
There's an old myth that if you pick a guinea pig up by the tail, its eyes will fall out. (yes, I know why they can get away with saying that -- it's the same reason they can get away with telling little girls that if they can kiss their own elbow, they'll turn into a boy -- and vice versa).
Squeaker can't claim a three-inch tail. More like... three millimetres? No, not even that. Just a cute little bump in the right place. But the wiggle is there, as necessary.
Yes, Squeaker does rather well with what she has. Verbally, she's a dynamo. Her name hardly does justice to the variety of sounds she can emit, from a whisper to a shriek, and each pitch is very expressive.
Honey will miss her. Yesterday I gave Honey a bag of lettuce and a bag of carrots and she spasmed from one to the next and finally climbed into the lettuce bag.
When I gave her lettuce, I put a carrot in her face while she ate. She ignored it. Then I put the carrots on the other side of the cage. She instantly ran over, grabbed a carrot, and headed back to the lettuce with it.
I'd worry that something like that would happen. Probably the only cat I'd have to worry about is Magic. She's the good mouser. The male cats, not so much.
I really don't know whether there would be a problem - unlike other rodents I've known, guinea pigs really don't move very fast. They can move fast, but they don't generally dart around in the way things that attract cats do. But it's probably a good idea to err on the side of caution rather than take a chance.
I've seen guinea pig books where they rate which pets piggies can coexist with. I can't remember now about cats.
But I think I wouldn't care to mix them unless I raised them together. All animals get territorial and that can be a big part of the conflict. Even Honey now attacks other guinea pigs who come into her territory.
I think dogs and cats may tend to play with piggies and scare them shitless.

That made me laugh out loud. I can just picture it!
